Magic Kingdom 50th Gold Statues

Yesterday’s post was supposed to be the Magic Kingdom statues, but that got derailed by the missing Mickey…but everything is ready to go now…it took about 5 visits to find them, as I really wanted to find them all by myself.

Let’s get started. Two of Cinderella’s mice are on the castle wall right side…top photo…

Note … there are really only 36 statues as many of them have two characters on them, and each character counts toward the 50.
There are 19 statues with 25 characters in the Magic Kingdom.

The main characters were easy most of them were in the castle square and I got those right away (apparently except for Micky…that’s going to stay a mystery).

    Here they are .
Daisy and Donald.

Mickey and Minnie

Pooh and Piglet are in the castle courtyard, too…but off to the left going to Adventure land. I didn’t see them the first day, as I didn’t go to Adventureland.

Dumbo and Timothy Q. Mouse are in the castle courtyard area, but off to the side going to Tomorrowland.

Another day I went looking for the fantasyland statures …Pinocchio was pretty easy and off by himself. He was In fantasyland behind the castle by his shop.

Cogsworth and Lumiere were in back of the castle, too not far from Pinocchio by the beauty and the Beast area.

Abu and orange bird are in Adventureland…they actually aren’t that easy to spot either, unless you are looking for them.
Abu is over the Adventureland sign, on the right.

And orange Bird is a little further down, still on the right. On a porch behind a rocking chair., near the sunshine Tree Terrace juice stand.

The Last wasn’t particularly hard to find, I just forgot all about it (and I think it’s my favorite), I usually go in the other side of the entrance, so just never passed by it…the Lady and the Tramp are at the right side entrance in the front part of the Main Street garden.

That’s it for now…we are planning on dinner at the animal Kingdom tonight…still hoping for that night time shot in Pandora…wish me luck!

Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale

Tinker-bell was the one I couldn’t find although I looked every time we went…I finally had to ask…and I still almost missed her…they kept saying she was high up a tree…but she was only a little high and on a pole among the trees, so I was always looking too high..

By accident, I found the Mad Hatter and the Cheshire Cat while I was looking for the Cheshire Cat magic shot…makes sense that both would be near the tea-party ride.

Stitch was what I  looked for next. he was supposed to be in tomorrowland. I found it completely by accident, too...I’m not sure why he’d be on a back wall by a restaurant that’s not even open, but he’s on the purple side wall of the Laugh Factory on the main street side…all by himself.

A Golden Mickey

I was really happy to finally have all my Magic Kingdom 50th gold statues to put on the blog…

I was getting them ready and realized I had no Mickey…don’t know if I missed it (which would be weird, as he’s right beside Minnie) or if it accidentally got deleted…Anyway, I checked this morning and there were reservations available for the MK so I grabbed one and went out to get it…I figured I could get the new Spring confetti shot and maybe the Cheshire Cat while I was at it…and eat lunch…it’s always good to eat lunch.

I got the Mickey no problem, but finding the confetti shot was another story…but I persevered, and I actually ended up with three, and also discovered another  ‘hidden’ photographer.
There was no one at the Cheshire Cat location…I checked three times…
But, that confetti shot…I did some hiking to get that.🥾  The Main Street was where I went first (I should have stopped out front, that’s where one was, but the line was long).
Anyway, Main Street said they were on all the bridges, liberty square, and out front…I was eating in Tomorrowland anyway, so I headed to the photographer station that’s usually at the end of the bridge…he was there, but said all he had was straight shots and the frozen Olaf shot (which I have somewhere) …I must have looked sad, he offered to try...it actually worked, but didn’t show up till I got home, and wasn’t that great, anyway. The castle background wasn’t bad though…here’s that..

Here’s the Olaf shot from last year.

I went ahead and ate lunch, (more on that in a few days) then checked the cat again and headed to liberty square…I couldn’t find anyone but a Tinker-bell photographer. I asked in the little office there…they didn’t know…I headed to the bridge by splash mountain…saw no more photographers at all but the parade was getting ready to start, so I ducked down the little path that parallels Frontierland and goes along side the Tom Sawyer Island lagoon. I don’t think I ever realized it ran the entire length of the street…but half way across…low and behold there was a little balcony over the water with, you guessed it… a photographer who did the confetti…that’s the confetti shot shown above…he also did a great shot with Tom Sawyer Island in the background, which in all my years, I’d never gotten. 🤗

So, I tried the cat one more time…nothing…I went ahead and headed out…I stopped at the photographer at the entrance to get one more confetti shot, as neither if the other two had shown up yet….they finally all did..I didn’t like this one much either but she had a new  Peter Pan  shot.. that was fun.

It’s after 3 AM and I have a full day tomorrow…more then…night…

Still looking for Kaa… Got Him!

I went back to the Animal Kingdom, still looking for the missing magic shots.

It was a bit of an adventure today. Bob decided not to go, and I hesitated, as it was definitely going to rain. But, I wanted to walk, so I headed out.
It started with very light sprinkles as soon as I arrived…I was prepared with my plastic phone baggie, a hat, and my umbrella. All the front photographers were already pulled, but the front bridge still had one hardy soul… with a camera…just for kicks I asked for Wall.e, he said he’d try, but didn’t think it would work where we were…he was right…I got this…🤷‍♀️

I immediately headed for the Kaa spot in Asia, but no one was there, so I went to dinoland, I figured no photographer would be out there either, as it was definitely now raining, but I could eat and maybe the rain would let up after that…I really love the restaurantasurus. It’s like a TARDIS, looks small but it’s huge inside…this is just a couple rooms of several, plus a few porches outside.

Still had trouble finding a seat though, as people that weren’t eating, were just sitting around waiting till the rain stopped. I finally joined a family on the end of their table  (they weren’t eating). It was still lightly raining afterward so I went to the Dino ride.

After that, the rain was a barely sprinkling, so I went back to the Tiger rock, where the Kaa photo is…no photographer, but the info people said they’d be back out shortly…

I decided to go ahead and do the Safari .  Good choice! It was straight walk on…a fairly long walk, but just straight walking, no stopping…and most of the animals were out..here’s a few, the others will be put on the Animal only page.

After the safari, it was not raining at all, so I rushed over to the Tiger tree…and was really surprised to find a photographer, with no line!  I got my Kaa shot…

I was going to head back to the Dino area to see if the explorer shot was available and maybe head out and get the chameleon…but I passed the Lion King show and just for fun, I stopped to see when the next show was…it was 90 seconds! I was the last person in, the only seats left were front row! The show actually started within 30 seconds of me being seated…

Truthfully, while the singing and dancing were very good, and the four floats fairly interesting, I was kind of underwhelmed…it felt like I was in a small, second rate circus tent.  I don’t know why it struck me that way…the kids around me seemed to enjoy it, although a young father next to me kept putting his head down on his knees and sighing, it was fairly annoying and didn’t add much to the atmosphere…
On the way out I talked to a photographer who was on her way in, as the rain was starting to pick up (my feet were soaked by the time I got to my car)…she said they also had a new confetti spring shot…so I guess I still have four shots left to get here…Oh well, hopefully I can find a dry day or two, next week…see you then…

Animal Kingdom on a Mission

 Looking for Missing Magic Shots.

I found a big list of magic shots from the Animal Kingdom that I had never seen before…I went out yesterday, just to see if I could find them…the mission was a very mixed success. Many of the shots had been discontinued….but I got a couple of good straight shots.  Sadly, since I went late (as the main shot I wanted was a Pandora after dark shot)  most of the magic shot photo locations had already been shut down…I’ll try again earlier in a day or two, for the two I know I missed and they still have. And another late closing day to get the Pandora shot. (It closed before dark yesterday, because of a marathon party).

Here are the only two magic shots I was able to get.

Moana’s rooster Heihei.

And Wall-e

Got quite a few straight shots I liked though…the tree of life,, entrance and Pandora.

Plus a few I took.

This was just outside the entrance, not sure what’s going to be for, but it was a real sand sculpture…it stormed all night, wonder how it held up.

Not sure if I ever got this 50th stature…I haven’t listed and hunted for all the AK ones yet…

At the park entrance they were doing a parrot show, and I found the big bird at the entrance to Dinoland.

I took a shot of the Tree of Life from across the bridge that I really like. And a few close ups of a few roots.

I am amazed at the detail every time I go into Pandora.

It was nice to see street entertainment back.

And it wasn’t a great shot but I did briefly see the new baby gorilla (Ada), she was playing behind the bushes…Dad had no problem being front and center.
